The African female author has fought immensely against the dehumanizing treatment meted out to her by men in various African societies. She fervently struggles to reveal her true potential as a woman who has more role to play in the African society than just being a child bearer. This project is therefore on the exploration of how women are portrayed in recent prose fiction in the African society. It uses Zaynab Alkali's The Descendants and several works of different scholars are also used in the research as well as theories related to the role of women in the society in terms of feminism, womanism and all other female oriented studies.
