Abstract

ABSTRACT The main objective of this study is to examine the economics of commercial poultry production in Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano state. A total of fifty (50) commercial poultry (broilers) farmers were randomly selected in kibiya local government. The primary data were collected using structured questionnaires while data analysis was done by the use of cobb-douglas production function, descriptive statistics and farm budgeting model. The major findings from the study indicate that majority of the broilers farmers (58%) were male, 48% were between the age ranges from 26-34 years, 64% were married, also majority of the farmers have one form of educational level and farming experience. The average total variables cost was found to be 127131.4 and the total revenue was found to be 287855, the gross margin was found to be 160723.6, this shows that; the enterprise was profitable the .The regression analysis shows that, the number of broilers and cost of commercial feeds was significant, The study was also able to identify the management practice and method of acquisition of resources use by the farmers. Also the study was able to identify Constrains such as high cost of inputs, diseases, lack of capital.
