Abstract

Background: Unconscious patients require careful handling and monitoring to prevent complications and ensure patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of radiographers in handling unconscious patients in Sokoto metropolis. Methods: The study was a descriptive cross-sectional study. A sample of 45 radiographers and interns was used and selected through convenience sampling. Data was collected using self-administered structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: Findings revealed that 20% of the respondents had poor knowledge, 62.2% had moderate knowledge and 17.8% had good knowledge regarding the handling of unconscious patients. In terms of attitude, 2.2% demonstrated poor attitude, 20% demonstrated moderate attitude and 77.8 demonstrated good attitude. Most respondents. 93.4% agreed on the need for ongoing training. Conclusion: The study concluded that the radiographers in Sokoto metropolis possess moderate knowledge and good attitudes on the handling of unconscious patients and the majority of the respondents agreed on the need for ongoing training.
