| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT The study was carried out to determine the effects of climate change on leguminous crop farming in Kaduna State Nigeria. Multistage sampling was used to select the study area, while simple random sampling was used to select 150 leguminous crop farmers as the sample size of the study. Structured questionnaire was used for date collection while descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The study showed that 65.3% of the farmers were male and about 51.3% of the study area are within the active age 20-35 years active age. 42.7% of farmers use late onset of rainfall as indicators of climate change. Also 51.3% of the farmers expressed that application of burning material for land clearing were the major cause contributing to climate change. About 34.7% of farmers expressed that poor crop yield is the major effects of climate change on legume crops using pest and disease control measure was expressed to be the major adaption measure in solving climate change effects on legumes. Lack of financial resources on climate change constitutes 48.7% of the problem limiting adaptation measure by the farmers. It was recommended that leguminous crop farmers should use tolerant varieties that can with stand the effects of climate change.
