T This study was conducted to find the effects of Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) on speaking skills of secondary schools students in Zamfara State, Nigeria. The population of the study was 40762. 340 SS II students were used as a study sample. Pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research design was used. The instrument of the study was adapted version of English Language Speaking Test (ELST). The adopted ELST was validated by five professors, two associate professors, and two Ph. D holders in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) with r = 0.9 as reliability index. The adapted ESLT was validated by a professor and three Ph. D holders in Language Education. The modified ELST was pilot tested for two weeks. After test-retest, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) was computed and coefficient of r = 0.82 was established. Five null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 levels of significance. T-test was used in testing all the five null hypotheses. After testing, all the five null hypotheses were rejected. The findings showed that Experimental group performed better than control group in English language speaking skills. The study recommended the use CAI as one of the medium of English language instruction.
