EFFECTS OF AQUEOUS MIXTURE OF KUKUBIMA ENERGY DRINK ON HISTOLOGY OF KIDNEY, LIVER AND STOMACH OF WISTAR RATS

Abstract

Kukubima energy! is a popular powdered energy drink manufactured by PT sinde budi Sentosa Indonesia it is typically dissolved in water before consumption. The product is marketed as a quick energy booster and the main active of ingredients including caffeine ,taurine’, vitamin B complex ,ginseng extract and sugar or. The aims and objectives of the study is to determine the histological and toxicological effects of Kukubima energy drink on the kidney liver stomach, and of wistar rats. To determine the lethal dose (LD50) of the Kukubima energy drink. To assess the effect the Kukubima energy drink on biochemical parameter of kidney liver and stomach of wistar rats To determine the effect of Kukubima energy drink on the histology of kidney, liver and stomach of wistar rats, 12 rats were divided into 4 groups each groups 3 rats A,B, C, D ,The rat, And volume of dose given each day for longer 3 weeks, A group is control does not received any dose, B received lower dose, C received medium dose and D received higher dose .the rats were sacrificed and blood collected for liver and kidney function test. Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), Total protein (TP), Total bilirubin (TB), while for kidney creatinine, sodium, chloride and urea. And organs excision for histological examination of kidney, liver and stomach, the organs were preserved in 10% formal saline for 24hours and stained in hematoxylin and eosin stains. In a biochemical analysis Statistical showed no significant changes in the kidney also no significance change in the liver enzymes and protein. in a histological analysis Kukubima energy drink has effects on kidney and stomach due to the present of inflammatory cell on kidney tissue and mucus erosion on stomach. While Kukubima energy drink has no effect on liver.
