| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT Chemical characteristics were conducted on Hyptis spicigera seeds oil obtained in Badariya, Kalgo Local Government, Kebbi state, Nigeria to ascertain its chemical composition. From the analysis, result showed that, fat 59% ± 0.73%, iodine values Black seeds 11.07 ± 0.14gI2/g of oil, saponification valuesBlack seeds 176.4 ± 10.7mg KOH/g and commercial oil 18.7 ± 1.87mg KOH/g, acid values Black seeds 10.53 ± 0.13mg/g, peroxide values Black seeds 50 ± 1.0mEq/kg and commercial oils 10 ± 0.0mEq/kg. The results suggest that hyptis spicigera seed oil is chemically stable and has the potential to be used for biological needs such as formation of soap, margarine etc. | |
