dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This study sought to investigate the relationship between motivation and teachers' job performance in public primary schools in Sokoto Central Senatorial District, Sokoto State, Nigeria. It was guided by five objectives, five research questions, and five hypotheses. The study adopted a correlational research design. The study sampled a total of five hundred and forty-two (542) respondents; one hundred and ninety-six (196) head teachers’ and three hundred and forty-six (346) primary school teachers from one hundred and ninety-six (196) public primary schools in the Sokoto Central senatorial District. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire and the data that was obtained was analysed using frequency, simple percentage and independent sample t-test, which were contained in the Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 20. The study found that teachers' salaries, teacher’s promotion, teacher’s development, and availability of instructional materials were significantly related to the teachers' job performances in public primary schools in Sokoto Central Senatorial DistrictofSokoto Central Senatorial DistrictofSokoto State. Based on these findings, the study recommended that the government formulate policies that are geared towards improving the general working conditions in public primary schools to facilitate good job performance.
