dc.description.abstractThe emergence of TanureOjaide along with a New Poetics is the high point of contingencies of the transition of modern African/Nigerian poetry from the loin of Euro-centric poets (pioneer poets). This research is set against this background to explicate the poet’s new poetics innovation within the frame work of the Alter-native poetic tradition the synthesis of the western and African/ Urohbo oral literary techniques are unique landmark to the contexts, the adopation of local languages and oral tradition, speech pattern is distinguished feature of their poetry. This research therefore, seeks to assess the New Poetics in TanureOjaide’s Song of Myself. The research also contains four chapters.
