CONTRASTIVE LINGUISTICS ANALYSIS OF MODES OF GREETING IN HAUSA AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES

Abstract

This research work is divided into four sections. 1-4 and are referred to as chapters wheel the last part deal with bibliography. The first is background of the study, statement of the problem, aims and objective of the study, scope and limitation of the study, significance of the topic, research methodology and lastly statement of hypothesis. The second, literature review which consists: the Introduction, Contrastive Linguistic Analysis, Language as a means of Cultural Communication, Relationship between language and Culture, brief history on Hausa and English. The third chapter also consists: an Introduction, Meaning of Greeting, modes and structure of greeting in Hausa language, modes and types of greeting in English language, area of divergence and convergence between the two languages. The fourth which is the last is the general conclusion consists of summary, conclusion and recommendations.
