Abstract
Child abuse has existed since the dawn of human history, yet until recently it was not recognized as a significant social problem. Physical punishment was long accepted as a corrective measure to enforce discipline and conformity, but the profound psychological scars and personality disturbances it produces have disproved this belief. This study investigates how attentive care and emotional support during childhood influence a child’s development and seeks to illuminate the myriad challenges faced by Nigerian children who endure abuse and neglect. By documenting the hidden suffering of these young individuals, the research aims to inform policymakers, practitioners, and communities, inspiring collective action to protect future generations from similar traumas. In addition, the researchers hope that those who read this will understand and pray that the past experiences of these silent sufferers will serve to prevent tomorrow’s children from experiencing
