Abstract
A study on the phytochemical analysis and antioxidants activities of Aloevera barbandensis and Moringa oleifera. Firstly the extracts of the plants were screened for phytochemical properties which revealed the presence of flavonoids in moderate amounts in both plants, alkaloids in large amount in Moringa while in moderate amount in aloevera, terpenoids were found to be in moderate amounts in Aloevera but trace amounts in moringa, tannins was not detected in Aloevera while it was found in moderate amounts in Moringa, phenol contents were found in moderate amounts in Moringa but not detected in Aloevera, glycosides were not detected in both Aloevera and Moringa. Antioxidants activities was further carried out using the extracts of Aloevera and Moringa for the determination of natural vitamins viz: Vitamin A, E and C. The results revealed that the natural antioxidants (Vitamin C) in Aloevera were found to be higher (28.52 ± 1.80) compared to the other natural antioxidants Vitamin A (9.99 ± 0.17) and Vitamin E (26.92 ± 0.41). Also, the natural antioxidant (Vitamin E) in Moringa were found to be higher (59.43 ± 0.91) compared to the other natural antioxidants Vitamin A (17.09±0.20) and Vitamin C (16.93 ± 0.09). Conclusively, the finding of this study confirmed that presence of the phytochemicals and antioxidants in both Aloevera and Moringa have medicinal as well as physiological properties in the treatment of different kinds of ailments.
