Abstract
This study was carried out to investigating student awareness perception of artificial intelligence as a tool for personalized learning and academic performance among senior secondary school chemistry students. Five research objectives, five research research questions were formulated to guide the study and three null hypothesis was tested using PPMC technique at alpha level of 0.05. The researcher used a proportionate random sampling technique to select the sample. The instrument used for the collection of data was students’ perception questionnaire. The result obtained from the analysis shows that student’s awareness has significant effects on their perceptions of artificial intelligence as a tool for personalized learning and their academic performance in chemistry. It also indicates the benefits of the usage of artificial intelligence as a tool for personalized learning, chemistry students still faced certain challenges such as having access to AI enhanced chemistry learning tools due to their cost, lack of training or guidance on how to use artificial intelligence tools effectively in chemistry learning. It also recommends that there is need for an in-service training of chemistry teachers so as to be exposed to the power of artificial intelligence so as to ensure the development of the nation capability in science and technology which will bring positive influence to the field of artificial intelligence in the teaching and learning of chemistry.
